2025 continues to delight film enthusiasts with quality movies. From nostalgic teen romances that tug at your heart to pulse-pounding survival thrillers, this year’s lineup proves once again why Korean storytelling captivates audiences worldwide.

Whether you’ve seen these films or not, they’re well worth revisiting or watching for the first time with your loved ones. Enjoy!

1. ‘Love Untangled’

Based on a popular web novel, this heartwarming film set in 1998 follows 19-year-old Park Se-ri, played by Shin Eun-soo, as she dreams of straightening her perpetually frizzy hair before making a life-changing confession. Along the way, she becomes entangled with transfer student Han Yun-seok.

Released on August 29, 2025, the film captures the awkwardness of friendship evolving into something deeper and the bittersweet innocence of youth.

2. ‘Lost in Starlight’

Released on May 30, 2025, this is Netflix’s first Korean-language animated film. This tells the story of Nan-young, a scientist on Earth, and her long-distance love, Jay, an astronaut stationed on Mars.

Voiced by Kim Tae-ri, Hong Kyung, and Sharon Kwon as Nan-young, Jay, and Rosa, respectively, the film portrays star-crossed lovers navigating connection and longing across the vastness of space.

3. ‘Yadang: The Snitch’

At the center of this crime thriller is Korea’s “yadang” system, where informants trade secrets with police and prosecutors in a dangerous game of survival and power. 

Premiering on April 16, 2025, the film follows a man unjustly jailed and recruited by a corrupt prosecutor to infiltrate a drug ring. After being betrayed, he joins forces with a narcotics officer and an actress to seek revenge. Kang Ha-neul stars as Lee Kang-soo, Yoo Hae-jin as Goo Gwan-hee, and Park Hae-joon as Oh Sang-jae.

4. ‘Wall to Wall’

What happens when the place you call home turns into a nightmare? Released on Netflix on July 18, 2025, “Wall to Wall” unfolds entirely within an apartment building.

Woo-seong, played by Kang Ha-neul, finally buys his dream home, only to face financial ruin and mysterious noises from the floors above and below. As his life spirals into claustrophobic terror, the thriller builds tension floor by floor, with every neighbor a possible suspect.

5. ‘The Great Flood’

Disaster cinema gets a Korean twist in the Netflix film, “The Great Flood,” directed by Kim Byung-woo and set for release on September 18, 2025. Rising waters consume the planet, trapping AI researcher An Na and security officer Hee-jo inside their sinking apartment.

Equal parts spectacle and emotion, the film explores survival, sacrifice, and the fragile bonds tested when the world is literally underwater. Kim Da-mi stars as An Na, alongside Park Hae-soo as Hee-jo.

6. ‘Hitman 2’

Released on January 22, 2025, this action-comedy is a sequel to the 2020 movie “Hitman: Agent Jun.” The story continues with Jun, the ex-agent turned webtoon artist. When a terrorist attack eerily mirrors his latest comic, Jun becomes the prime suspect. Kwon Sang-woo, best known for “Stairway to Heaven,” reprises his protagonist role.

7. ‘No Other Choice’

How far would you go to protect your family after losing everything? A remake of the French-Belgian-Spanish film “The Axe,” this thriller — reportedly set to premiere on September 24, 2025, in South Korea — follows Yoo Man-su, an office worker laid off after 25 years. Desperate for a job, he hatches a drastic plan: eliminate his competition.

The film stars Lee Byung-hun, Son Ye-jin, and Park Hae-soo, exploring the moral gray areas of desperation with a mix of dark comedy and tension.

8. ‘Revelations’

From Yeon Sang-ho, director of “Train to Busan,” comes “Revelations,” a tense psychological thriller about faith gone wrong. Released in theaters on March 21, 2025, the film stars Ryu Jun-yeol as Pastor Min Chan, who believes a church visitor is the man who abducted his son.

As his obsession grows, Detective Yeon Hee, played by Shin Hyeon-bin, begins her own investigation. The film probes themes of belief, morality, and obsession.

9. ‘Bogotá: City of the Lost’

“Vincenzo” star Song Joong-ki takes on one of his grittiest roles yet in “Bogotá: City of the Lost,” which aired on February 4, 2025. The film follows Gook-hee, a young man who moves to Colombia in search of a better life, only to be pulled into the city’s brutal black market. Co-stars Lee Hee-joon plays Soo-young, and Kwon Hae-hyo appears as Sergeant Park.

10. ‘Good News’

Set against the political turbulence of the 1970s, “Good News” tells the gripping story of a group determined to land a hijacked airplane, no matter the cost. Directed by Byun Sung-hyun, this Netflix thriller stars Sul Kyung-gu, Hong Kyung, and Ryoo Seung-bum. It is set for release in the fourth quarter of 2025.
